The Life of Yayoi Kusama

For this book, the challenge was to create a book layout that fitted an article of my choosing, images, and theming the book to a specific museum. My choice was the Bellagio in Las Vegas as Yayoi Kusama has previously shown there and their elegant yet extravagant feel felt best suited to create a book on the beautiful works that Kusama makes. The article in particular focuses on Kusama’s life and her adventure into the art world and the hearts of people today. Respecting her and understanding the transparency she has given to her fans; I as the designer sought out material that was transparent and of Japanese origin. Hand stitching represents the humanity that Kusama portrays to all while using gold thread to portray the beauty that Kusama reflects in the fragility that is our own existence. The book also is set in a physical location in which the works have been previously shown.

Below is the PDF of the book.
